Protect Yourself!
Antivirus software, spy detection software and firewalls
are the most important line of defense against the threat of malicious
software for your computer or home network. Your
ISP, your upstream provider, the guy down the street who installed your
computer is not going to do it for you. There are many well known, inexpensive software
applications--as well as some free ones--that you can use to protect
your systems. Some of these applications are listed below.
Virus Detection Software:
McAfee Stinger - Free
Stinger is a stand-alone utility used to detect and remove specific
viruses. It is not a substitute for full anti-virus protection, but rather
a tool to assist administrators and users when dealing with an infected
system. Stinger utilizes next generation scan engine technology, including
process scanning, digitally signed DAT files, and scan performance
optimizations.
